Platform 2

Platform 2 is a charitable organisation based in the UK with very similar goals to mine. It gets 18-25 yr old's to volunteer across the world who otherwise wouldn't get the chance. The offer full funding which is definitely what I will offer. It is clear that Platform 2 has been marketed in a way that will appeal to their TA.
Few more changes to brief
HELP OTHERS TO HELP YOURSELF!
My organisation believes that improving the quality of life of the volunteer is equally as important of helping develop the communities served in the projects it undertakes.
I have specified my TA to 18-35 yr old's suffering from depression due to their job and lifestyle. They also will be people who would not usually get the chance to complete a gap year due to social and economic status. They will have a low level of qualifications that has prevented them from moving forward in a career. The values and beliefs of my organisation is to give them the chance to complete a gap year as it will improve their mental state through gaining a sense of pride and achievement. In addition to this they will pick up valuable skills which can be transferred to the job market on return. I will also need to consider costs due to the charitable nature of my organisation which I didn't state before.
The activities that I will be offering will become more refined after further TA research but I'm currently looking to focus on projects that are based around helping people rather than wildlife, marine life or eco-systems. They will range from teaching to construction. I think that I will select around 5-10 different activities for the volunteer to choose from.

New Brief
Introduction
Having looked at artists and designers whose work aims to incite change and/ or positive feeling within our society in my previous blog and last semesters research module it has lead me to want to produce a piece of design which follows this trend.
Previously I was looking to produce design and/ or copy with an outcome that generates stimulation, motivation and confidence to change within the target audience who feel trapped and depressed in their current lifestyle. I now want to them an answer rather than just inciting a change that cannot necessarily guarantee happiness.
I plan to develop a brand identity for a charitable organisation that needs volunteers to help them across the world. This is aimed at giving the target audience the opportunity to have a unique experience with the chance to travel and help others.
Brief
Develop a brand identity for my organisation or re-brand an existing one. Produce a wide range of design and/ or copy promoting the experience that can be gained from volunteering with my organisation. The experience will give the target audience stimulation, motivation, confidence and a sense of achievement which all need to come across clearly in my design outcomes. Consider tone of voice very carefully in relation to target audience, I don't want to appear condescending or patronizing. Consider different approaches; empathy, questioning, appreciative, humourous and motivating.
Target Audience
The individual who is stuck in a job/ lifestyle/ routine that is not making them happy.
Constraints
None- Use whatever format or media that best gets my idea across.

Looking Back Again...
I came up with this idea when talking to a friend who was definitely unhappy with his work and lifestyle, he decided to leave the country for a year to work in a school in Cambodia and it helped his mental well being a great deal.

Brief
Having looked at various artists and designers whose work aims to incite change and/or positive feeling within society in my previous blog it has lead me to want to produce design which follows this trend. I'm a firm believer that design has a responsibility to communicate important messages that will benefit the individual and/or our society rather than to just sell a meaningless product or service.
Produce design and/or copy with an outcome that generates stimulation, motivation and confidence to change within the target audience who feel trapped and depressed in their current lifestyle. At this stage I think that encouraging one small achievable step at a time will be most successful however this may change after further development. The tone of voice will be crucial if the design/copy is to be accepted and therefore become successful. Consider different approaches: questioning, empathy, humour, encouraging, motivating and appreciation.
My target audience is the 'thirty-something' individual who is stuck in a job/lifestyle that they are unhappy with and that will never let them realise their dreams but who do not see the possibility of change.
